Svecchā School of Yoga
200+ Foundational Teacher Training
October 2026 – May 2027
Freedom through connection.
Svecchā (स्वेच्छा) means “one’s own will” — freedom aligned with awareness. Rooted in non-dual Śaivism tantra, this training is designed to cultivate teachers who are grounded, thoughtful, and capable of transmitting their own authentic voice.
This is not a training in memorising sequences. It is a structured pathway into clarity, confidence, and intelligent teaching.
Āsana & Functional Movement
Exploration of foundational and progressively complex āsana, with attention to biomechanics, stability, mobility, and intelligent sequencing. Emphasis is placed on teaching safely across a range of bodies while developing clarity of structure and progression.
Prāṇāyāma & Meditation
Breath practice as the bridge between physical and subtle experience. Students learn foundational prāṇāyāma techniques, nervous system awareness, and meditation practices that cultivate steadiness, clarity, and embodied presence.
Yoga Philosophy & Darśana
Study rooted in non-dual Kashmir Śaivism, with guided engagement with the Yoga Sūtras of Patañjali, the Pratyabhijñāhṛdayam, and the Bhagavad Gītā. Philosophy is explored as lived inquiry, not abstract theory, and integrated directly into teaching practice.
Teaching Methodology
Class design, intelligent sequencing, voice development, pacing, theming, ethical teaching, and holding space. Students refine their ability to communicate clearly and teach from authenticity rather than imitation.
Anatomy, Safety & Accessibility
Foundational functional anatomy, movement literacy, injury awareness, and inclusive adaptation. Focus is placed on practical application rather than memorisation, enabling teachers to respond intelligently in real classroom settings.
Practice Teaching & Observation
Structured teaching practicums with guided feedback. Students develop confidence through repetition, reflection, and refinement, supported by a logged 20-class in-studio observation and participation requirement.
Immersive Retreat Integration
A six-day residential retreat designed to deepen integration of study, practice, and community. Extended āsana laboratories, prāṇāyāma, meditation, textual discussion, and supervised teaching sessions form the experiential centre of the programme.
Professional Development & Beginner Teaching
Graduates receive a complete five-week Beginner Yoga Course structured around the five elements, including ready-to-teach class plans and delivery training. This bridges certification and real-world teaching confidence.
This curriculum covers all core components expected of internationally recognised 200-hour training — including āsana, prāṇāyāma, philosophy, anatomy, teaching methodology, practicum, and ethics — while offering extended integration through retreat immersion and structured reflective study.
Programme Structure
• 8 in-person training weekends

• 20 in-studio class immersion
