Statement of Intent
The Svecchā Yoga community is founded on Freedom through Connection. Our shared practice honours both the individual and the collective, recognising that each person brings their own lived experience, identity, and story. These values define how we relate to one another and to the broader lineage of yoga.
Our Core Values
Presence: We listen deeply, to ourselves and to others.
Respect: We honour each person’s lived experience, culture, and boundaries.
Curiosity: We approach difference as an opportunity for learning, not separation.
Integrity: We act from authenticity, kindness, and accountability.
Service: We understand that teaching yoga is a sacred responsibility and a form of contribution.
Cultural Awareness & Respect
We acknowledge yoga’s roots in South Asian traditions and seek to approach its teachings with reverence and accuracy.
We commit to avoiding cultural appropriation and to engaging with Sanskrit language, mantras, and rituals respectfully.
We aim to credit teachers, sources, and lineages that inform our work.
We recognise that yoga continues to evolve through cultural exchange, and we hold this evolution with discernment and humility.
Responsibilities & Procedures
These values guide all aspects of our trainings, retreats, and community spaces.
Any language or behaviour that undermines another’s dignity will be addressed with compassion and clarity.
We continually revisit these principles as a living practice — an ongoing dialogue of connection, awareness, and freedom.
